Two for one

This first one gave me so much anxiety and anguish I nearly just threw it away.

Judie, our art teacher, just put it quietly away so that I couldn’t see it.

We began our next paint, and last week she brought it out again

I did a little bit last week. And I finished it today.

I’m much happier with it now

The latest painting is of Uluṟu (Ayer’s rock)
This was a much happier project.

I just kept painting and I didn’t freak out at all lol

So that’s why it’s been so long between posts.
I hope you like them.

  1. I get that way with art projects too (typically coloured pencils). At the halfway point, my rendition seems so butt-ugly, I just want to rip it up into tiny shreds and throw it in the garbage. But by the end it miraculously, somehow, ends up looking not too bad. Except for the ones which REMAIN hideous and DO end up in the trash, lol! That does happen from time to time, alas.

But good thing your instructor trusted your process and saved your waves painting. It turned out GREAT! And Uluru turned out wonderful too. I don't know what kind of vegetation is growing in the foreground, but it's very attractive!

    1. Thank you. She’s very good at not letting me give up.
The plants are just bushes that grow all over central Australia.
We just call them scrubby bushes lol

  3. That keep on going, trust your instincts, is good art practice. I like your teacher's attitude. Also your paintings. The crashing waves are very good, and the waves at the edge starting to run back. They're very well observed.

    1. Thank you. That was what I had trouble with. So I’m very happy you think I’ve nailed it.
